I was lucky enough to perform this song in two different horn choirs and it's easily one of my favorites of all time to play

We knew Phil Smith when he was a youngster as our family and his were members of the Salvation Army. After retiring, Philip was active in his local Salvation Army church cops in New Jersey and has taught at several universities.

As an American, I came to discover Nimrod late in life. Now I'm obsessed with listening to all the interpretations, including Lux Aeterna and We Shall Stand Together. I appreciate more and more the reverence that the British hold for this piece, Stokowski"s performance here is breathtaking.
